Our Staff

 Dr. Scott Owen, DVM  graduated from Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996.  Dr. Owen is a Columbiana resident along with his wife Sharon, son Nathan, and their many dogs, cats, horses, and miscellaneous other critters. Dr. Owen enjoys landscaping, snow skiing,  fishing, hunting, water skiing, and playing baseball with his son. 

 Dr. Kristin Varga, DVM graduated from Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She has a strong interest in equine reproduction and spends a great deal of her time treating our in-house reproduction patients. When she gets that rare day off, she can generally be found either reading or hiking.

Sharon Owen graduated from Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She is a long time small animal veterinarian and now helps with the horses and manages our business side of the practice. When not working, she loves riding her horses, snow skiing, and water skiing.

Alaina is an avid horsewoman.  She is experienced in all areas of horse care and stable management.  She is the key contact for the breeding program at Southern Equine, as well as other clinic information.  Alaina is also involved with the onsite medical care of patients and assists the veterinarians with procedures as necessary.

Baylee is a bright ray of sunshine and always smiling. She assists all staff at Southern Equine in our many areas of service.
